‘The Biscuit’ wins the 2008 Surf Industry Manufacturers Association “Surfboard of the Year”. The short and stubby tri-fin waxed all comers this year. Thanks go out to Tom Curren, Rob Machado and Al Merrick.
“Before Jimi Hendrix there was Niccolo Paganini who was a Fiddler.” Surfing as high art? I think Derek Hynd may be on to something here, I’m digging it.

Chad Jackson of Bioshapes is running some serious R&D on sustainable surfboard building materials out of his little shack. Romanian hemp cloth, bio resin, sugar cane oil based blanks by Ice-9 and soy based blanks from San Diego’s Biofoam.
Tom Wegener Alaias stripping the surfboard back to its absolute minimum. I had seen some footage of Dan Malloy riding an Alaia and after reading this article “Jon Wegener Alaias” over at WetSand, I had to get some video. Some beautiful looking craft, never ridden one but would love to give it a go.
Derek Hynd fins free and investigating the known on King Island from Musica Surfica. You have to see the reverse he pulls, no fins looks like fun more fun to me. You can read more about Musica Surfica and other good stuff at “Safe to Sea“
Little wave fun on this double bump round tail quad by DOC Lausch. I surfed a DOC shape for a bit in 2002, xyzx or something, it was a fun board. This one looks perfect for those small summer mornings at D-Street, I miss those mornings.
